1. Information We Collect
Pact (the "App") collects two kinds of information:
a. Information that stays on your device. Your session records, commitment receipts, task names, reflection notes, selected categories, timer settings, notification preferences, and onboarding answers are stored locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to our servers or any third party. It is visible to the App, and to anyone with access to your device.
b. Anonymous product analytics. We use PostHog to collect anonymous product events such as screens viewed, onboarding step completions, paywall interactions, session starts and completions, and feature-flag assignments. These events do not include the content of your tasks, your reflection text, or personal identifiers. PostHog assigns an anonymous device-level identifier; we do not link it to an email or an account.
We do not request access to your location, contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, photos, or health data. We do not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). We do not perform tracking across other apps or websites.
2. How We Use It
We use the on-device data solely to run the App: to show your receipts, compute your streak, chain, Ignition Score, and Compound Minutes, and to deliver the local notifications you have enabled. None of this data leaves your device.
We use PostHog analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate. For example, which onboarding step has the highest drop-off, whether a new feature increased session completion, or whether a change to the paywall affected conversion. This helps us fix problems, ship better features, and prioritize what to build next. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise transfer analytics data to advertisers or data brokers.
3. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services receive information from the App:
- PostHog (product analytics): anonymous product events. PostHog's privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
- Apple App Store (distribution and, if you subscribe, subscription billing): standard App Store interactions such as app download, receipt validation, and subscription state. Governed by Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
No other third parties receive information from the App. If we add another service in the future (for example, to manage subscriptions or to send transactional email), we will update this section before it goes live.
4. Data Retention
On-device data remains on your device for as long as the App is installed. Deleting the App removes all local data, including receipts, sessions, reflections, and onboarding answers.
Anonymous analytics events sent to PostHog are retained according to PostHog's data retention policy. Because these events are not tied to a personal identifier, we cannot retrieve or delete the events of a specific individual.
5. Your Rights
Because Pact does not collect personal identifiers and stores user-generated content entirely on your device, most traditional data-subject requests are not applicable: there is no account to delete, and we cannot identify analytics events as belonging to you specifically.
If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection laws (such as the EU under GDPR, the UK, California under CCPA/CPRA, or similar regimes elsewhere) and you wish to exercise rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of processing, you can contact us at support@pacttimer.app. We will respond within a reasonable time and do what is possible given the anonymous nature of the analytics data.
You can stop all analytics collection immediately by deleting the App.
6. Children's Privacy
Pact is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child under that age has been using the App, please delete the App from the device and contact support@pacttimer.app. We will take reasonable steps in response.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes (for example, adding a new third-party SDK, or beginning to transmit content you create in the App) will be flagged to you in-app before they take effect.
